This map contains the soundtrack from the movie "Stargate" and portrays the two locations in the movie, Earth and Abydos Planet. It will feature the map room inside the pyramid, ring transporters, egyptian lockdown doors and two active stargates, already powered, dialled and active. DJ is making Shock Lance and Icarios is working on Jaffa Skins. I've used the DXMS torch pack in this, which I think are [A]Jon's, some UT textures from U Awakening and UT. This was Jon's idea too. I have a sound sample of Jaffa troops shouting "Hail Anubis! Hail Anubis!" There is something comical about this sound sample.

1. The big pyramid on Planet Abydos, where the SG-1 team camped.
2. The entrance hall on Planet Abydos. I have made richer textures than the original film.
3. Another corridor
4. The Gate room on Earth Cheyenne Mountain / NORAD, home of the SG-1 team
5. Another room in NORAD on Earth. Here will be some kind of powercore/hadron collider type energy ball
6. The Gate room on Planet Abydos.

There will be no grenades on this map, because I dont think emp can be teleported, therefore removing any grenades prevents stand off and promotes teamwork. Probably one neutron bomb reactor will be placed somewhere "fair". I will not allow players to lam gates etc. So also it will beneficial for teams, to rush the gate with as many team members at the same time. Also multiple spwns will create backdoors too...

I'm not sure if Jaffa v SG-1 is going to be like FLClothes or a gametype or mod etc...Besides a large area outside the pyramid, the rest of the map is actually fairly small, perhaps less area than CMD. Alex had a good idea that the ring is powered up and activated with the ring moving around the chevrons...So I'm experimenting at the moment with rotating rings...

Too bad that i couldn't make a stargate dialing system. But it was impossible to realize with the weak engine.

I have made a DHD but it is static.

I will make a SG-1 dialling system as Alex suggested, using screens/movers/textures and buttons etc...

The ring can rotate in two directions though? perhaps two movers in same place? one rotates left, one rotates right?

EDIT: but it wont dial, only perhaps activate, power up etc and dial only one destination...

I have idea...

SIMPLE...

make gates close to each other on grid... and close to wall in gate rooms.

Make tunnel like in [A] patres, I have wormhole texture already... v-pan etc...

I always wanted to ask Dae how he made player sucked into tunnel...

EDIT: AAH! kawoosh is not wormhole...

Hmm a mover set, small wavy...transparent, non-solid...

the kawoosh in UT2 mod didnt look fantastic on you tube,.

had a look at the abydos map in the server yesterday. the pyramid looks really really nice (especially the hieroglyphes on the walls, nice job!) but the transporter gave me a gpf. don't know if that's normal in this stage, or that's a fault.

Yea, the textures are nice.. from citydead package.
I used them on my first stargate map DXSG_GODZ_A51+Smuggler too.
Anyone remembers this one from 2003 at all? :shock:

The shots actually shows a 32+1 movers stargate . I did one with only 2 movers, but I've not DX installed and I don't find the CD-Rom.

Same for the DHD...

I've made a DHD, but it doesn't dial, it will look like its already dialled...The texture is very detailed though.

Watch the youtube videos of the KAWOOSH!! (Water-Spout)
Water-Spout kills, it was featured in a TV Episode.
Player Anubis from Season 2/3 of DXSG was a modeller for this mod.
The mod is totally awesome, but the Kawoosh didnt seem so great, maybe the youtube quality?

There will not be a water-spout/Kawoosh in DXSG_Abydos because the Stargates are already dialled and locked and active etc.

However if we can make the wormhole effect...

...in a tunnel like [A]Patres... then it is worth make the Kawoosh, which I think is easy, just a effects/brush/mover simply...

I've watched all 10 seasons of Stargate-SG1 on Tv, since apophis to anubis then oriis... I've watched the first film in the 1997 and the Arc of Truth ( 2007 ) where the SG-1 defeat oriis. I've watched the first 4 seasons of SG-Atlantis :D I know what's a stargate and how it works.

( Remember, the game shouldn't last more than 38 minutes ;-) )

I might join in the DXSG editing community when I'll reinstall DX

SNIPER SPEAKS!

FGS Stargate Server will be 38 minute gametime.
No advertising commercials or newsflashes we promise.

Sniper - we can hook up on msn and I can introduce you to editing for SG mod. Some things are a little different from normal SDK and normal movers etc. Also please think which episode/scenario/theme you really want to make as a map and let us know, so we can incorporate into the schedule and support team etc. We have some cool textures etc.

So since you are expert, which Race should I choose for Stargate war? Are the Asgard much in a fight?
