vaguely contreversial policy - Postby Jima B » 01 May 2010, 04:21

Ok, so, the election is heating up and people are making policies left right and center in the UK, and here's a one that particularly caught my eye that the liberal democrats aim to support heavilly, I believe.
There's slight opposition to it, and I'm sure you'll see why when you see what it is.
The link makes it pretty apparent.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/ne ... unComments

So anyway, what are the oppinions regarding the law and opposition to it. Personally I think it's pretty fine, but it's came at the wrong time. The law forcing young adults to stay in school till 18 needs to be revoked first, and other similar legistlation.
What do you guys think?

I think it's a good idea, and a step in the right direction to straightening out our frankly bizzare age of consent laws. For those not in the know:

Legal age of consent (straight): 16 (as far as I'm aware)
Legal age of consent (homosexual/lesbian): 18
Legal age for starring/buying porn: 18

Wait...what? So, it's ok to actually go out and do it at 16, but not watch or look at pictures of it, or allow my self to be photographed/filmed whilst doing it? Wtf?

Still not enough to entice me to actually vote on the 6th though. All politicians are scum, the only thing I care about is the *loving* money grabbing Tories not making it in. Remember Maggie guys, remember Maggie....

18 for porn, though, but nobody gives a crap. The Internet.

It should all be 16 really... although the starring in pornography at 18 sorta makes sense. It protects voulnerable teenagers.
Of course, forcing people to stick in school untill 18, and attempting to protect them from pornography until the same age, just means people will be more voulnerable for longer.

As for the vote, I wouldn't mind a big party that wasn't metabolic end product.
One want's to scrap our nuclear deterrent and push us into the EU.
One want's to privatise through the ass like always and sell out our country.
The other is bent on overcentralization and pusing us into the EU.

Feels bad man.

We had elections in Hungary a couple weeks ago, the party I support won 68% of the votes. This 2/3 majority in the Parliament authorizes them to make drastical decisions so radicals have already started comparing them to dictators while there's nothing they've done yet.. This party is made by awesome people and the government they will form should be a good start to get Hungary back to the right direction since the last 8 years have been a nightmare. (giant social and economical relapses etc..)

imagine the nationwide paranoia in Poland now.

1. president died, along with 80+ others

2. they buried him at Wawel, a place where the greatest of our nation have their graves (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juliusz_S%C5%82owacki, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tadeusz_Ko%C5%9Bciuszko, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_III_Sobieski and much more).

3. people (including me) protested against it, he hasn't done ANYTHING to be even considered being buried there, he just died in a sadly-epic plane crash. He was hated by a lot of Polish people, especially young people (he won the elections because many old people voted on him), and suddenly everyone loves him, he might even get a *loving* MONUMENT.

4. presidential elections now, guess what, Lech Kaczynski's (dead president) brother Jaroslaw is going to candidate. And he will probably win. Another 4 year of conservative presidency, support of Church leeching off our budget, sucking off USA's male sex organ and fighting with Russians so that they say "we're sorry for Katyn", even though it's been 70 years.

I hate this country sometimes.

I was a fashion photographer for many magazines. I worked with girls from 14 upwards... usually from 17 upwards.
I got the feeling that girls on average are not truly sexually mature until 19 and men even a lot older.
girls of 16 being screwed by guys my age is basically wrong.
I think there is nothing wrong to have sex at 16 or be a fashion model from maybe 16/17, but to have sex on camera with presumably much older men at age of 16 is basically abuse?

Some really interesting comments. I definitely agree about the Jaroslaw part, all sympathy votes go to him. It really sucks having to see your own country basically being fucked up by bad politicians. It is also quite ironic that the president's plane crashed in Katyn.
What do you think, by the way, of the missile shield the USA so desperately wants in Eastern Europe?
Also @ Shadowrunner, I fully agree with you. That's just wrong.

I think it's wrong, we have to stop sucking up to USA, also such installations make our country a more possible target of terrorist attacks, which is already elevated since our soldiers are in Iraq.

We irish have decent enough age restrictions:

Age for sex: 17 (like *love* if we even look at this)
Age for homo: NOT ALLOWED IN IRELAND
Age for pronzorz: 18

I prefer my methods:

If a girl is in a bar, then she has to be of age, if i *love* her and she turns out to be 15, then more fool the bar.
*love* the queers, only thing they're good for is making out at the front of a queue and making niggers leave
Pron is overrated, go get some poon and stop fapping.

Missile shields are not a bad idea when it serves mutual interest such as NATO upgrades.
Europe and America needs more protection than ever because the world is not only flooded by criminals but dangerous terrorists aswell with lethal weapons. I hate to know that North Korea and some SEA countries own nukes. Sometimes diplomacy just doesn't work.

[rant]People in Britain need to get off their high horses. The British Empire has fallen a long time ago, their supremacy is based on ancient reputation that actually isn't all that factual these days. The European Union is a good organization, and could even be better if we'd take it beyond mere economic regulations and partnerships. The need of a united Europe hasn't been more urgent and important than right now. If we see what 'new superpowers' (e.g. Russia and especially the USA) have realized in the time they have played a major role in world politics, it's saddening at least, maybe even frightening (although I do have a strong belief in our, younger generation, that isn't all that strung up in certain ideas or beliefs. And have a strikingly greater amount of common sense and decency than certain adults that have the ability to alter the faith of human kind(1)). [/rant]

So ye...gtfo.
