na im serious.

your eyes or skin can be irritated by certain chemicals or materials, but you cant be irritated by a person if thats why youre asking. its a common misuse of the word when someone says: "youre so irritating". the only way i can imagine a person being literally irritating is if someones medically allergic to him :-D which is actually possible.

annoyance is self explanatory i guess

You can most definitly be irritated by a person.

i have, last thursday :-D

i dont wanna start looking things up but im still quite confident that irritation is merely physical.

edit: just checked the most obvious place on the internet: wiki mentions no other meanings of the word irritation other than what i already summarized. not the most legitimate source i know, but then what is?

Dictionary, where my quote comes from. :-D

You were absolutely right about irritation also coming in the physical form though, unlike annoyance

Also, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irritability

Not a bad effort.

Irritation is used to describe physical and non-physical situations though.

Bleach is an irritant. Noobs are irritating. Some admins are easily irritated.

We don't say bleach is a nuisance or annoying though.

We do say noobs are annoying and some admins can be easily annoyed.

Words like irritant and agitant or agitated can be used both for people and objects, but annoying is mainly used to describe animate situations, involving people usually. I could be wrong, but I think it comes via French from "nuisance".

Irritating also implies testing someone's nerve, where as to be annoyed, you've definitely lost your nerve to some degree.

A fly is irritating. Children "are" irritating. Often the word is used to describe something smaller and distracting. It can be used to condascend or patronize others.
