PSU recommendation - Postby [FGS]Chees » 05 Feb 2016, 01:39

Can anyone recommend a good PSU?
Main specs
CPU Intel Core 2 Quad 2.40GHz
(12v supply)
2 GB GPU
2TB sata HD
4 GB mem
x 2 DVD Drives
foxconn motherboard n15235

PSU is currently 350 watt ISO-450 pp. Way underpowered and on it's last legs, just waiting for it to go on fire like my last PC PSU did...twice! Any advise on what way to go would be great, also funds are very low :-D

Nobody will respond tho! :-D

My old PC was a Core2Duo with 2.40GHz and a Geforce GTX 260.
That was powered by a 13 year old BeQuiet Power Supply with 450 Watt.
I needed several adapters to provide power to the Graphics card because it required two 6-pin power connectors and my old Power supply didn't even have one! 8-[

Anyway.. it did the job well!

My GPU needs no power cables just plug in the PCI and good to go. (Asus Geforce GT 640 2GB) Runs every latest game to date that I have tried (Gta 3/4/5, Fallout 3/4 and many more with no problems. Only a Quad core 2.4 GHz Processor but runs great as well. Took 10 mins to fit this new PSU today and no problems given it only cost £37.00 new + £7 shipping! Powered on straight away and runs sweet.

Opened my old PSU 2 days ago and not joking here the whole unit was full to the brim with dust and muck like a vacuum cleaner would be after cleaning all the carpets. Lucky it never went on fire like my old PC did...TWICE!. And yes I did try the old PSU after cleaning it out but same SQUEALING PIG NOISE and shut down on any power load. Took 2 hours to fire it up last week!
Your old computer sound ancient Noodles but surprised it was a 2.4 processor given the age of it. You just kicked mine in the balls there!
:bwahaha:
