Queen

Post by chin.democ. »

Currently going through Queen's discography and I'm amazed how much more music I like from them compared to 3-4 years ago when I last went through all their albums, I guess my musical tastes have branched out massively in the last few years.

Me and Spaz used to listen to Queen while on DXMP, everyone should try this as it's a fun experience! :D

Yeah, they're great. I do think their old rock stuff is better than the 80s pop, though. My favourite song is probably Somebody to Love.

LOL I grew up listening to Meatloaf when touring France and Italy (had no choice back then) Queen and Meatloaf are Legend 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and 'bat out of hell' I'll be gone when the morning comes' are are woven into my DNA. Parents no best I guess :-D

Yes, used to cover G+R songs when in a band...

We also used to cover Echo and the Bunnymen, U2, The Doors, Talking heads, The Cult, Rolling Stones, Bauhaus and Cocteau Twins and Yes. Early Roxy music is incredible as well.

The Cult - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8I8mWG6HlmU - A later more pop-ish track.

Cocteau Twins - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3diz8I0AVVk - Turn it up loud and bob up and down to it.

Early U2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_ZZ978phF0

Yes - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2384ayqn ... re=related - after they went all pop.

Early Roxy Music - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7j5ID-h ... re=related

Talk Talk - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvMoRVrq ... r_embedded

Simple Minds - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JowyVHdD ... re=related - Totally different from later years.

Velvet Underground - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrRVaYF-O4U

Japan - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98LrgSWi ... re=related

Used to listen to Iron Maiden, ACDC, Van Halen and some metal bands as well...

I have 95 Queen songs in my Queen music folder! 95!!! holy cow Batman, moved onto Metallica again - liking more songs this time around aswell, I think the trick is really spending time with each album. It takes me forever to get through a band's discography but it's really cool to discover songs that you previously missed.
