Conclusion to Deus Ex Demorecording
Info:
It is possible to record a movie of a game in Deus Ex using built in command. When playing a demo you can take screenshots of different moments in game you remember to be particularly interesting, view individual fighter tactics and much else quite similarly to an actual game. There are three main commands similarly to a tape recorder and few additional commands that can aid you.
To use commands run dx and press escape to get rid of the main menu, press talk key (or teamtalk if you must), delete Say (or TeamSay) and insert the command.
Use self-explanatory titles for your demorecs! (such as demorec clanwar_lolvsgpf_Imap_smuggler or my_laggiest_game)
All demorecs will be stored in your /DeusEx/System
All demos have .dem extension so you can spot them easily. You do not need to enter the extension .dem in the filename when starting recording or starting to play demo.
Demorecs can take up a lot of space on your hard drive so if you have small hdd it might be rational to delete testing demos or any unimportant demos every now and then.
Standard Self-explanatory Commands:
DEMOREC mydemo
STOPDEMO
DEMOPLAY mydemo
Additional Commands:
DEMOPLAY mydemo?noframecap--plays the demo back as fast as possible. This option is assumed if timedemo 1 is enabled.
DEMOPLAY mydemo?timebased----gives a smoother playback if the playback machine is significantly slower than the recording machine.
DEMOPLAY mydemo?3rdperson----lets you fly around a first person demo as a spectator.
EXAMPLE:
demoplay mydemo?3rdperson?timebased
About 'timedemo' command:
TIMEDEMO Shows the Frames Per Second (FPS) of the game at that particular instant, with a summary displayed as a message at the end of each map change.
E.G.: To Turn On: TIMEDEMO 1
To Turn Off: TIMEDEMO 0
Errors:
If you gpf (get 'general protection error') during demorecording, the demo will stop. You will need to make new demo to continue but the old one will still be functional.
If the map is reset by admin or game has reached the end demo will stop.
When playing demo it is possible it wont run if you're missing some mods that were active during recording. To fix it you should install them. Try that only when having such problems though.
If you try playing game after watching demo it will likely crash with gpf error. Simply re-launch the game after finishing with watching demo.
Misc:
Additional commands have been taken from http://www.planetdeusex.com/dxmp/serving/badmining.html and were originally on Slicers site which unfortunately is now down. Be sure to check out other commands and make a list.

Awesome post Random...
Also I'm wondering why demorec is not really possible on DXSG. Anyone?
I never knew this, seems like it could be extremely useful for various things, perhaps detecting a ladderbugger AFTER a game... etcDEMOPLAY mydemo?3rdperson----lets you fly around a first person demo as a spectator.
