less precise and less complex don't mix, less precise would make it more complex. :alc:

No it wouldn't. 'Cause less complex means less details, which makes it simpler, which is a synonym for less complex...

I'm assuming with less precise he meant aiming on consoles? Details might be less complex but the entire gameplay would be more complex, since it's harder to aim, what.

You can't execute a precise team manouver on a console, as you can't execute a precise individiual one either. Mainly because of the dummed down teamplay we see on consoles and also because of the Less Complex game modes and maps, and partly because you can't aim or move for metabolic end product on a console. You also can't lean, making manouvers more precise and complex. You also get less buttons on a controller than you would on a keyboard which REALLY effects gameplay IMO; "Look an enemy! I must lie down to avoid his fire" *Hold B* ... ... ... *LIES DOWN*
As opposed to keyboard gameplay which is overall more complex (due to the unholy amass of keys and commands and stuff) but also much more precise. You NEVER need to use one button for two things...

There's only one advantage controllers have over keyboards, and that's 360 degree horizontal movement axis (as opposed to 8). This is sharply combatted by the fact that fast aiming is VERY hard in comparison to a mouse, and that games rarely allow the use of much more than 8 directions of horizontal movement.

@Masta: There's often a medium degree of auto-aim inserted under the hood of console games so the 12yo noobs can feel pro. Bless 'em. Hence, less precise cos you don't have to be bang on target to hit.

@Jima: DAMMIT DON'T NINJA ME! Same here, and I completely agree with everything you've stated. Team play sucks on LIVE for some reason. There is one exception I can think of, and that's Halo's sniper rifle's. You do often have to be pretty accurate with those to hit, everything else though.... *mimics spraying a machine gun*

Hey it's not like I disagree about FPS games on consoles being dumbed down, I was just confused about the less precise and less complex thing. :alc:

Consoles and first person shooter is such a paradox!
The one who invented something THAT pointless and retarded should be slapped till doomsday!

FPS belong to PC with keyboard and mouse and that's it. There's NO room for interpretation.

What about the fact you can plug a keyboard and mouse in to some PS3 games?
