I always CTRL+C and CTRL+V and so far nothing has happened. I used to 'Transform Completly' or something like that before substracting tho

if you're making a big map, neither copy/paste or duplication is a good thing. Imo duplication is far better.

Yep transform permanently always and can check brush scale, grids etc.
