Crypto Competition

Another spam topic, time to use your last braincell.

The idea:

1. The first guy creates a text string, max. 10 characters, only uppercase english letters, no numbers, with some sense, that create a logic word (so the guy who decrypts can know he did it). No spaces.
This is because some encrypting methods aren't good with spaces and/or special characters.
Example:

Code: Select all

SENTENCE
The encrypted word will be called CRYPTO.

2. Then he encrypts the crypto. There are no limitations, as long as the decrypt tool/tools can be found on the Internet. Also, if you used a key, you have to post it (key -> additional string that is required to decrypt the crypto.)

3. He posts the crypto, this will be me, in the next post.
If the poster thinks the crypto might be too hard, he can give a hint. He doesn't have to.
Put the crypto in the quote or code tags.

4. When someone manages to decrypt the crypto, he posts the message and his new crypto. He should be sure that he did it, so I suggest everyone to use simple words like "YOUWON" or "ICECREAM".

5. If noone will manage to decrypt the crypto in 3 days, the creator may post another hint. Create a new post, so everyone can see that there's a new hint.

6. In noone will manage to decrypt the crypto in 5 days, anyone can post a new crypto. The rule is "the first guy wins".

DISCUSS IN THIS TOPIC: http://www.gravity-world.com/phpBB2/vie ... hp?p=11434
ONLY CRYPTOS IN NEXT POSTS
IF RULES WILL CHANGE, I WILL POST HERE

Good Luck ;)

//Yep, this was the word. Now it's time for you, find a encryption method, encrypt a word and post a hint ;) -K.

I'll give you one:

CRYPTO:

Code: Select all

UKJCNBPO
HINT:

That's a Caesarian Shift with a rotation value of 23. That is because of the 23 stab wounds he got to his chest when he was assassinated? Anyway, the answer is: Warbeast.

CRYPTO:

Code: Select all

...-- ---.. -.. . --. --..-- ..... --... .----. --..-- ----- -.... .-..-. -. .-.-..
--... --... -.. . --. --..-- ----- ---.. .----. --..-- ....- ....- .-..-. .--
HINT:

Code: Select all

This code was invented in 1836 and was very popular in World War II.

Starting tomorrow, I will be away for 4 days. I will give you an additional hint in advance.

Code: Select all

The crypto solution I'm looking for is a word. Google Earth might be useful.
It also seems to me that the interest for the first crypto I have posted has declined to the point of zero. I will provide you with the solution.
The Emperor was Caesar.
The encryption was coded or keyed Caesarian shift.
The key was 'Brutus', tge adopted slave of Caesar who killed him.
Apply the key to the lock and there you go, CONGRATS.

I've got another for you to keep you guys busy, this one somewhat easy in my opinion:
CRYPTO

Code: Select all

LIFGGJQ
HINT:

Code: Select all

This code was named after a French cryptographer who was born in 1523. Use the password to decrypt it, and it will lead you to success.
I expect both cryptos will be solved when I return.

It's CIA.
Central Intelligence Agency

about the secound crypto, can you please quote the password?

I've guessed Julius Caesar and Morse Code without yet understand the crypto bit, maybe the clues are too easy... 13 is a good clue, requires lateral thinking.

lmao... 13 only requires google. :P

The password is provided.

Very well, I will give you the answer.
This crypto was actually solvable without any ciphers at all.
This code was named after a French cryptographer who was born in 1523. Use the password to decrypt it, and it will lead you to success.
It was a Vigenere cipher, like you probably noticed.
The password/phrase was 'to decrypt it' and 'success' was the outcome.
Now I'd like to see someone else posting a crypto.

ROT-13 is one of the most common encryption codes there are. Therefore, the clue 13 is (in my opinion) an easier one than others.

CRYPTO:

Code: Select all

Hint:

Polybius x Polybius

Polybius x Polybius would make Polybius square. Which happens to be an encryption.
The answer is:
NOOB

CRYPTO:

Code: Select all

YNCINTROEP
Hint:

Use the transposition that you think is appropriate.

Additional hint. The encryption method you are looking for is a columnar transposition.
