My weekly rant about noobs...

I go on the serverlist...one server is busy, an "RPG" server...I join this "RPG" server and I am killed repeatedly by an armed player, killing unarmed players who have joined. And we wonder why DX is getting emptier.

It's the same about atdm servers, a Steam player who has never heard of binds, will just think you are all cheating. The servers that are up at the moment, even the best ones, are not going to do much to retain new players...People are just putting servers up without even thinking about it.

It really needs a concerted effort by all, to make message mods and other mods that speak the right things to the right people.

I have no sympathy for Brad to be honest, I can see why his server got attacked, it's not helping DX in anyway, in fact it gives DX a bad reputation. There is no "RPG" or brains on this server at all. Just killing unarmed players. It does little to bring the community together. I feel the same about other servers too, have their own faults.

Ironic that people like Mainman have put so much into RPG and what we have to offer is a noob server with people godding and killing unarmed players with ZERO rpg at all.

It's no wonder that DX is struggling.

I've always steered clear of these RPG servers, I only saw Mainman's mod once before it was taken off, I never saw the point in these servers and still don't.

lol I usually get some kind of mismatch on those servers and they are usually very boring unless the others playing actually speak and can agree on something to do. then there is the noobs

my favorite map that is RPG like is the one where you fall from like a million feet into a pool and there are 3 smaller pools you can choose to try to land in.

Only time I ever went on an RPG server, there was some arsehole cheating and using rmode. And spawncamping mothers too...

On the point of ATDM players using binds...

You all have binds, and aug binds can be set INGAME without having to open your User.ini. So if they are Steam players they'd know to check the controls before playing the game. If not then they deserve to be killed.

And you lot can say nothing about confusing noobs, have you tried looking at SG from a noob perspective?

Yes but at least there are clear instructions in most maps, although I admit more could be done to intro the format and guide players with tips etc.

In the case of atdm, something like Deja Vu's message mod would be useful, anyone joining an atdm server for the first time would know immediately they need to set their binds in order to really play.

I don't know what Brad is hoping to achieve by hosting a server and map on which a player joining late, has no chance of playing, let alone winning...

separate "noobs" from "newbies". There's a difference.

Even if that was true, you'd have NO rights to complain or even mention [FGS] as you slaughter noobs ANYWHERE and WHENEVER you can. (talkin' 'bout water drinkin' wine etc.)
