The [FGS] Clan

But it is to do with DX. I'm kinda scared to ask this, as I dunno what the reaction will be, but here goes.

I was wondering what my chances of acquiring Admin to Wunderland would be, both normal and backup. I am on that server a high percentage of the time, and time and time again I've seen peeps showing flagrant disregard for the rules of the server, and no admin to make recourse. I don't have any visual evidence of this, as I often don't pay much attention to these ppl, and don't usually bother wasting my time on sshots, demorecs, etc because of them. But lately, it's been getting on my nerves quite a lot. Just yesterday in fact, I joined the empty Wunderland Backup to train a little bit, and was quietly exploring CMD_VI, when a few peeps signed on. I hhmed, and haaed, and decided to have a match. I also decided to brush up on my sniping skills.

So, I grab my shock rifle and head up to ring 18 (top of the roof). I see one guy, Jarexx I think it was, and snipe the head off him. I then use the rings to go down to 96 and snipe from there. Same guy, same place, same movement pattern. BLAM! His head comes to rest 50 ft away or so. I go up to 24, jump to the cross beam between main building and tower, same deal, back down to 96 and again. By now however, the guy is accusing me of, and this is his words, not mine: "camping in homosexual places". Huh? I shot you from 3 or 4 different places. Whatev dude. [RTK]Venom, A.K.A Player_865 or similar also joins and starts to warm up. During the subsequent match and the one after, this Jarexx guy consistently accuses everyone who kills him of being "homosexual", or "homosexual" or "homosexual camping", etc etc. Not once a gs, ns, ty, or gg. Other examples are peeps coming on and spawnkilling, despite being asked not to on more than one occasion, lamming spawns (hardly ever works, but when it does, well, you get the picture), consistently killing players lying down, who are obviously either afk or typing, disrupting one weapon only fights (i.e. Sup. [Ask Nobody]), being abusive and just generally annoying people, etc, you get the picture by now. This is obviously in flagrant disregard for one of the rules that shows on joining the server: Respect all players.

If you want to know why I should get Admin (which you almost certainly will), I can only give a few reasons, and they are the following:

1. I am respectful of everyone I meet ingame. The following are [FGS] members I've played with, and who should be able to confirm this:
ShadowRunner
Chin.Democ
Chris
Nobody
FlyingGhost
And anyone else I've forgotten.
Also, a couple of unaffiliated players whom I know:
Dude
furiousangels
And anybody over at ~[E]~.

2. I am pretty reasonable, i.e. I don't jump to conclusions necessarily, I would check things out.
Example:
Player A: Player B is spawnkilling and calling everyone in my clan a homosexual!
Player B: Ooh! Lies! I never did!
Me: (checks logs) You did Player B, so warning number 1, modify the attitude, and stop spawnkilling, you only get one warning, so don't do it again.
Player B: F*CK YOU B*TCH!! I OWNS DA SERVOR!!! I GONNA HAXOR DA SERVOR AND DDOS IT AND S*IT!!!!
Me: (Kicks Player B)
(Player B signs back in) Player B: Ok, point taken, I'll behave.

That would be in an ideal world anyway.

3. I learn quick, so IF I do get it, it wouldn't take long to train me in the use of admin related things.

A couple of minor sticking points maybe:

1. I do have a fairly short temper, but am able to control it for the most part.

2. Would my trainee status over at ~[E]~ preclude any admin rights?

You would be a crap admin if you think Spawnkilling is a kickable offence.

You spawn with a blue shield, which eliminates the possibility of a spawnkill. It's not our fault if your metabolic end product and can't get your weapons. Wanker.

I think we all have different opinions on spawnkilling my definition

when someone is in the spawn room and the blue shield just disappeared and someone snipes them. (a good example of this is the hanger spawn in area 51.)

i think killing in the spawn room is cheap thats why when i see someone in the spawn room i don't sit there and wait for the shield to disappear i move on and wait to fight them else where. its kind of an unspoken rule of honor.

and skil I have never played with you so idk how you handle an admin situation.

Less new admins, more admins playing.

I think that non-FGS shouln't get admin if they really don't need to.

I used to have admin to some FGS server, think it was SG...

Spaz is right, we need more admins that play regular. How often don't I find myself thinking: 'If only there was an admin here'. Really, Wunderland is a busy server, and a server with a crap attitude. And I understand that you desire that admins are of the clan itself (although I was a good admin j/k).

btw IS THE BACKUP SERVER FIXED YET?

The example player was also being abusive to other players, and also decided to abuse the admin when told to behave. That was the reason for kicking. Repeated spawnkilling would probably be a three warning then kick offence. And besides, you're an ATDM player Spaz, I wouldn't expect you to understand the notion of not spawnkilling. :lol:

Anyway, I think I see where this is going, though I'd appreciate it if the people who voted no would show their faces here and explain why. Just asking, not trying to cause a fight.

Also, back on topic of the forums. If you guys want a backup admin, I'll do it and they can message me via xfire and I'll come online and deal with it as I see fit. (aka not banning for no reason, just because a noob can't get a break because of a better player)

Skil, I doubt that someone who's threatening with DDOS attack on the server can be stopped by being kicked.
Spaz, not everyone who can't be moderated is a better player than the admin.

I wouldn't hesitate giving you admin access if you were [FGS] but right now I couldn't really make a decision. You are a good guy with a good attitude but [FGS] has to be extremely careful on choosing admins. That's a private matter.

I'm also in favour of the 'Icho Doctrine', in which basically a very limited amount of players get admin access.

DDOS was just an example of the smack-talking a lot of rule breakers do when they think they can get away with it. And yeah, I respect [FGS]'s private matters. I can see where this is going and can see the most likely outcome. I won't say I'm not disappointed, that'd be lying, but I will say I'll respect it. This is you guys decision, and you have your reasons.

@SPAZ: I hardly think lamming a spawnpoint when you can't escape it, or camping a spawnroom and killing as soon as peeps appear classes as "skill". You try that on AltFire, you'd get lynched. Whatev mate, not here for a fight.
