the problem with being Atheist, is that Catholics and Christians will do everything in their power to excommunicate them. even Bush Sr. said that he wouldn't even consider an atheist an American citizen. The only reason a lot of Atheists are outspoken is because we have to be.

there is a lot of religious discrimination in the world caused by Christians. I blame the Christians because, lets face it, a Buddhist isn't going to care if someone decides not to believe in any form of a god or any other spiritual existence; as long as you don't disrespect them.

So this is why there is all that "god bothering stuff" and btw there actually are people like Peter Godly...

I knew someone EXACTLY like Peter Godly, thats why this was so damm funny to me.

Religion is not the problem, it is poeple. (Unless your part of a crazy cult) It has to
do with respecting others opinions and believes. Imposing your views down peoples
throats. Respect one anothers believes and ideals is what we should do. If he wants
to believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster... He Shall Burn in Hell! but it is his
own choice to believe in it. Imposing your will on others does not create loyalty nor
belief in what ever you view as correct.

Also Atheists do this along with Christians. Take excerpts from the old testament is
not valid. (Except for Peter Godly) The bible is suppose to be a set of moral ideals.
The old testament was written when that was their culture and what they followed.
It has no real place today. (Ever see a good stoning? ) Point being the true meanings
were corrupted. Like I really doubt if Jesus was alive today he would want everyone
killing each other in his name. No mater how you try to put it killing is still wrong.
I view this as the peoples fault not religion for this reason. (Again unless your a
crazy cult) The points in his teachings were helping poeple, peace, etc. and not
going to confession every Sunday and doing it again that week and confessing
again about it... People use this as an excuse because they always get "forgiven"
so that means that they can go do it again are pieces of metabolic end product. How the hell is
killing a dozen babys, getting forgiven, and doing it all again correct?

well to me the whole "holy war" is pointless and opposing a religion is pointless. If someone wants to believe in God, then by all means believe, I have no problem with it. I just don't like it when there are a ton of "holier than thou" asses who will condemn me to hell faster than they will open the bible. and I live in the bible belt so... yeah

Same here. I don't have to respect the religion (and I don't, had it forced down my throat when I was at school and hated every minute of it), but I do tolerate it, to some extent. As long as you're not trying to force it down my throat and condemning me to a hell I don't belive in just because I don't believe in your crappy book of stories.

Far as I'm concerned, Jesus was the first ever hippy and would be appalled if he was still alive today. Which he isn't, cause he was just a man.
