UnrealED is bitching with vista..

Oh well... I just wanted to start working on SG_MOD153 and need to realize that the *loving* Unreal Editor doesn't work as expected with Vista.
I'm unable to do any interaction within the view-ports.
No right- or left-click works there... any idea? :?

PS: NO spam.

It was a valid idea.

I work on Vista with Unreal Ed,

Firstly, when you install it, it says some DLL files are missing, name that file, and I'll give it to you, then you paste them at..

dir/Windows/System32/

Or it's something like.. dir/Windows/System/System32/

Anyway, name that .dll file and I'll help you, no vista isn't that bad.. its gud.

I would be happy if it was as easy as that and a DLL is missing..
..but there is no DLL missing.
It loads just fine.. NO errors in the log either.. but it refuses to perform actions on my mouse clicks in the viewport windows (although the clicks itself are recorded in the log as "Fire" and "ParseRightClick")

There are some missing OCX files (and maybe DLLs) [for UnrealEd 1.0]. You have to DL them and register them to your system with "regsvr32" (on CMD).
Maybe you should use UnrealEd 2.0 (if you do so and there are some missing dlls... put the missing dlls, you downloaded [use google] and put them into your %sysroot%/system32 directory or put them into the directory of your UnrealEd.exe).

You should also use the compatiblity mode for Windows XP SP2 (!) and Admin permissions for the app.

As far as I know, UnrealED refuses to start in general, if those ocx files aren't there.. which is not the case for me. It starts just fine.. no errors or warnings so far. (JUST THE *loving* VIEWPORT INTER(F)AC(K)TION DOESNT WORK PROPERLY!! :smt093 )

Hm... Ued2... it's buggy since it actually doesn't exist for DX.

I've been trying all that already and I wouldn't have posted here, if it had been solved that easily..

Oh well.. thanks for the suggestions anyway..

It's the OCX problem, I am 100% sure.

If you click in the viewport, textures, classes, it'll crash.

Try pasting these in System32.

FullOCXFiles.zip

If error still occurs, printscreen, upload to image hosting, and post the picture here.

WTF... are you actually reading my replies?

I've tried your suggestion nevertheless and it did not work.
Perhaps my English is too bad to explain it..
The editor does NOT have errors or warnings and does NOT crash.
I can even navigate in the viewports BUT it just ignores my right- and left-clicks to select stuff or open the context menu! :smt089

Anyway.. since I'm happy about any suggestion because I completely ran out of ideas.. there's a screen shot and the corresponding log file.(in attachment)

I used UEd without any difficulty on vista, why don't you just reinstall?

Try installing a fresh DX to a separate folder and add a fresh UTEd to it. It might be the loads of addons you have that won't make it work.
