I would like to point out, regarding Nick's remark about the Japs', that it took several kamikaze fighters to attack a single large US vessel, and even if through some miracle it hit, the damage would generally be quite marginal.

Amazing because the Americans liked wooden flight decks, where as Her Majesty's navy went for steel, Kamikaze's had no chance.

A word about the atrocities the United States army is carrying out (it is a rather personal subject to many fierce opponents of the entire Iraqi action): there is nothing special, nothing what so ever, about what is going on in Iraq. If anything the soldiers there might even behave, more so than say Russian troops or the Chinese or whatnot. It is amusing that the people carefully pick and choose video clips about what is going on in the war as if they really had no clue before, and the best part of it is that not much is going to change because of it. Was "liberating" Iraq necessary? I think so. Can the US forces and international effort combined accomplish that? I dont think so.

While under certain circumstances I can find it close to being possible that the Russian secret service planted bombs into civ buildings around Moscow and pushed the blame onto Chechens (i dont remember many of them exploding,if any, in fact), it is absolutely ridiculous to think that the CIA or whatnot would actually utterly destroy one of their nationally important buildings killing close to 3000 Americans. This is not even debatable. Understanding why and how the islamist terrorist networks operate, or where they get their finances, is considerably simpler process.

And a more logical process, lol.
