Who set the trend according to you? Was it [A]'s Funline, or Double_D's rpg map?

I know Funline came out before Double_D's, but I don't think it really intended to be an RPG style map like Double_D's...
Or was there another one?

Discushhh.

FLUP started it all, but IMO it was largely due to DoubleD's maps. There was almost 0 coding involved, but he was a pretty inventive guy. He even made some pretty cool NPC assault the base type maps. After that, it was, FLCity, which never came out but inspired MMCity, which inspired X and so on. I think some of Hasha's crazy twisted adventure maps deserve a mention too, idk how many people have seen them.

ONE THING I HATE THOUGH

IS PARTY MAPS.

Party maps were the metabolic end product

When I was 13 :-D

DoubleD was pretty smart, the card system in particular impressed me.
Mind you, throwing a card at a door to open it isn't very logical, but it worked lol

I never experienced anything, even for 10 seconds, remotely like single player until playing Cozmo RPG.

Anything prior was either abused by admins, spawnkillers, or oversubscribed and difficult to enter, or sabotaged.

It's a shame the community is stupidly competitive and secretive and so many past and present projects are hampered by it.

I like "combat RPG" like SG and AG, when everyone in the team has a different task, the only problem being that you need plenty of players over an evening for it.

DXAG was the breasts.

A big problem with DXMP mods imo, is that they're not player-driven. Even in the legendary MMCity, most of the map was one big god zone, where you'd have your hand held through scripted missions. It was really great, but players were basically only there as a distraction from the missions. It might as well be SP with Steam chat when you think about it.
Spoiler: Kind of irrelevant
I'm actually tempted to make an augs mod, balancing both shells and the charged pickups that were actually designed for mp (If you've ever wondered what skill 5 does, it makes items like ballistic armour more effective when you use them). I think it'd be interesting; you wouldn't be able to carry a third weapon around if you picked up armour or camo to help you take down a streaker or whatever. Vision would be more useful too with thermoptic camo in the map, where you can use weapons while invisible for a few seconds. If a streaker uses armour, just run away; it won't last very long.

I don't think anyone would ever host or play it though. ):

Nice spoiler, sounds great, would be great for altfire/ww2, 0-augs... thermoptic though without vision hmm.
