Influx of new players

I was in altfire and there were 3 players there claiming they have just bought the game on steam. Steam is indeed having a 50% sale on all Square Enix titles.

My bot server will be down during this (hard drive failed) :( .

More players in deus ex is allways good, but its bad when they start playing multiplayer without playing singleplayer first.
Also what a shame :(

Why is it?

I think there comes a kameradschaft or banta between players who have played single player. If you've never played the story, you have no clue what people are joking about and can't share the fun?

Is it because these guys are multiplayer guys anyway and they don't want to play SP first? Or because they have PC/internet issues and DXMP is a way of playing online easily, so they're more excited to get online than do SP?

I've had a change of heart about Chin's porting of the SP. I'm going to help as much as I can. I still think area51 and CMD are substantially different from their SP counterparts and the layout needs to be shuffled, but if 100 steam users played it and 3-5 stuck around, it's worth it. The advice EM originally gave me was do something in 2012, so I forged ahead, but seems people are still taking interest very much in HR anyway and nothing new on their horizon. Pratik started a steam thread, but we should have a proper accounts there "DXMP", FGS, Hengsha, UR etc.

I'm interested to know stats about these new players, like which sites do they visit, e.g. clans, or facebook, or where do they go for info on dx or dxmp.

I've played for years on and off, and I didn't complete SP until summer last year

I went to euro 0a server only to find 6 american beginners there. The influx has been MASSIVE and I've already recruited one of them as trainee, but I notice that lot of them are not interested in conversing nor even know how to change the name. Giving them tips on how to talk or whatnot results in collective silence from all Player_563s.

This is where infolink help tips may come in handy, I think zXc had this and Deja Vu's beginner aug server too.

USA player base has been the underdog in dxmp for so many years that some US vets probably sent their kids to kindergarten in that time.

Due to that trend the recent month has been absolutely shocking, with the amount of new US players likely outnumbering entire active european playerbase.

I am more than certain that most of them we do not see more than once, because of the state DXMP is in: uninviting and inactive.

I have conducted a very aggressive and hands-on recruitment and informing campaign, attempting to show details about the online game play to as many as possible, but as stated in previous post, it has been frustrating to say the least.

If anything, those players smart enough likely figure out the way to change their name and how to use talk button in a matter of a minute or two, but in our small community loosing even 10 bumpkins hurts, unfortunately.

I was in a 0a server today, with 3 new US and 1 new Polish players. One of the Americans was complaining about the lag, and lack of US servers :(

Yeah I notice THC can be over half full of 100+ pingers, eventually my site will have guides and whatnot for multiplayer but it will take some time to compile.

Whats really weird is that VT has decent US server for 0a, and still they come to THC for some reason. Even a canadian I played with today had 60 ping there.

Edit: I absolutely love the effort with deusexonline.com , enough to hug you, but the site looks like a chinese christmas tree.

+1 , can't emphasize the urgent need enough. EDH had it for a while as well I think.

We can of course, do this ourselves by using triggers in maps. In a way this might be better, can be more varied between maps.

Been on a couple of times lately and the amount of new >100 ping players is insane. We can't miss the chance to get at least some of them into DXMP.

~150 ping is nothing in 0A. I'm happy to help them out and play exclusively on US servers until this calms down. :alc: VT server seems good.

I can chip in too for some US 0-aug action but I've really got to stop moaning about my mouse - If i really wanted to do better I'd have a new mouse by now hehe. :-"

Perhaps if 6-7 players chipped in £3 each or something? 12/14 slot server should be enough for USA
