Re: Wolverine
Thanks for the heads up, I wasn't expecting much from this film, but I'll definitely give it a watch soon.

Re: Wolverine
Piece of metabolic end product. I knew as soon as X-Men was a hit they would ride this gravy train into the ground. Here is a small rundown of my PROOFS of this being a shitty film:
1. Lame, nearly cameo sequences of Gambit, so obviously put in the movie JUST because they didn't bother putting him in any of the others and every X-Men fan who wasn't your typical fanboy who loves just Wolverine or Cyclopse REALLY wanted him in every one that it is insulting. They could have cast him WAY better too. With proper make-up for a younger appearance, only one name comes to mind: NICK CAGE (Think Con Air with a cajun twist.)
2. Lamely thrown-together plot with more holes than Swiss cheese, including but not limited to: No explanation of why Sabretooth doesn't remember Wolverine in X-Men when ONLY Logan lost his memories, how the addition of such heavy amounts of adamantium could result in Wolverine instantly being just as quick and agile as before, or any mention of how, if Professor X knew where to go to get the captured mutants, why in the *love* didn't he fill Wolverine in on more in X2?
3. Cheap quick runthrough or several other mutants to barely pass the quota for an X-Men flick.
4. Casting of Will.I.Am, for any movie, in any role, for any purpose.

Re: Wolverine
Look this movie is something you should watch only once in your life. If you want a perfect plot with heroes and villains then go watch The Dark Knight.
This is an action movie for kids thus there's nothing plot related awesomeness you should expect.
Yesterday evening I watched about half of the new Fast and Furious. The plot is still a piece of metabolic end product and that applies for all the previous episodes. But that's not why you watch such films.
X-Men is a popcorn movie that you watch for XPLOSIONS and kickass fights.
There's a lot depending on what mood are you in when you're watching the movie. When me and my mates entered the theatre I knew that I shouldn't expect anything like TDK here and in the end I actually liked Wolverine.
As I said, it's no masterpiece.

Yeah I'm with Chris here, it's a film you would see once and mentality throw it away (or virtually, for downloading motherfuckers such as myself).

Re: Wolverine
I understand action movie. I just don't dig the metabolic end product anymore. After a while you can only take so much. I mean yeah, it is huge explosions and sweet ass fights and lots of metal in the form of badass vehicles or razor sharp claws (which on a side note if they are so sharp how can Wolverine use them to pull himself across the cieling in X Men 3? Wouldn't it just cut through the sheetrock? But I digress...)
However (and I guess this is JUST me) I can't ever seem to shake that gnarls little demon in the back of my head who keeps whacking my lobes and reminding me that the explosions are fake, used with gasoline and any similar explosion wouldn't be as spectacular, that all physics of each fight are planned out, choreographed and practiced multiple times, and half if not all of the badass tanks, weapons, and everything else is edited in digitally. This be the same demon who reminds you that all religion is a creation for control of society everytime you think of giving Satanism or Islam a whirl.
I mean it ruins it yeah, but sorry I am a realist. One time I saw two birds just hit each other head on in mid-air. Greatest *loving* spectacle I had ever seen, because it involved no planning, no special effects, and it wasn't engineered as a a ploy to sell air time, light, toys, cloths and everything else until the shred of soul it did begin with was whored away in the forms of dividends. Better than Iron Man, Transformers, and all the X-Men movies combined.

By birds I assume you mean the tweet tweet kind, not the woosh kind. Or even the attractive kind. O__() If so, that must've been funny! XDMeanstreak(BNino) wrote:I understand action movie. Re: Wolverine
I like the explosions in most movies.
New Fast and Furious movie was a disaster in my opinion. No more proper stunts in that movie, everything you saw was performed by computers, in addition: weakly. If you watch the first 5 minutes you will see what I'm talking about.
The only reason I watched all episodes of FF was the stunts they made with cars. Don't expect anything like that in the new episode.
Wolverine is computer stuff just as well but it's well performed and I knew what I was going to see when I entered the cinema. All X-Men episodes have been based on digital effects and weak cinematography. We still like them and so do the kids.

Re: Wolverine
x-Men flicks do indeed have their place with the newcoming classics, I guess. Movies in general will never be what they were so it is indeed useless to compare the two. However in my book the X series will only be good if they use the inevitable 4th and 5th installment as follows:
#4 will show the cure to be, at least in some cases, temporary. Magneto obviously gets his powers back as seen in X3 and he returns with a vengeance. To escape the possibility of being cured again he creates Asteroid M. Upon the discovery of his new threat, Xavier returns with his new body and rallies the troops. Somewhere in the middle we find (hopefully through a gnarly sex scene between Iceman and Rogue) that she has also regained her powers, and probably kills Bobby. Upon crashing the asteroid into the desert at the climax, Apocalypse's tomb is uncovered.
#5, probably the longest installment (and hopefully last, because any movie with more than three sequels is already overstaying its welcome and any after that had better deliver) will begin with the X-Men heading to Egypt to stop the Apocalypse before it begins. This obviously will fail and Apocalypse gets a hold of Rogue, absorbing all powers of each mutant she everr touched, and he starts ruining everyones metabolic end product. Then makes Wolverine, Juggernaut and a few other unlucky tools the Horsemen and it all concludes with a huge climactic battle, the savior being either Rogue or Storm depending on how much bitching Hally Berry does about still not having enough face time.
Oh and Gambit returns with better characterization, maybe sparks a love interest with Rogue after she kills Iceman, thus giving him more exposure by association.
Oh man that would be so metal.

Re: Wolverine
I was thinking of rewatching the X-Men movies too, as far as I can remember I liked X2 the most.
I heard that the new Terminator movies might include about 3 new episodes, both starring Christian Bale. I'm not quite sure whether to be happy or disappointed about that because I like C.B. and I know that he always plays in awesome movies, but... Terminator case should be closed tbh.
