Re: Predator(s) - Spoilers!
I've read about this, it's basically a marketing idea, the additional lasers were added only for the trailer, they're not actually in the movie.chin.democ. wrote:The laser thats goes to his head is real, so why do they have to use computer generated crap for the others, it looks shoddy.
/rant on modern films using too much CGI to cut corners which are, in most cases, not necessary.

Re: Predator(s) - Spoilers!
omg I've already seen this twice, it's a great action movie, I'm not saying it's free of mistakes but it's very well done.
Today I traveled to Budapest to meet director Nimr

ROFLbecause he was busy filming Machete.
I cant belive this movie is actually being done. It could well be more awesome than Predators.

As for the predators movie itself, it sounds a bit funny to hear how they ask Antal about his childhood and all that as if he directed two previous predator movies, as well. The movie was not bad, but much like the first movies it wasnt good enough either for me to actually want to look up some of his other works. Maybe its an hungarian thing. If he was from the States theyd hardly go in such depth with the guy, while youd still get your dedicated merchandise.

Re: Predator(s) - Spoilers!
I completely agree, he's not that special of a director but that's not why so many Hungarians adore him, I'll try to summarize.
Hungarian filmmaking can not be compared to Hollywood or Bollywood or whatever country's work. Not because it's so awesome or so bad, it's different because the circumstances are different as well. We have great actors, great directors, a very good Film Academy with respected professors, we have Europe's biggest film studio and we train great technicians each year. But Hungarian films are generally not too good, especially when you're used to Hollywood films. Our population is lower than 10 million which means that film industry can't afford to make high budget Hungarian speaking movies because even if they're good, they'll produce a box office loss. However the most watched native speaking movies are unfortunately these romantic comedies which could be funny but they don't represent much value, they don't provide a reason to be remembered for. Personally I hate these movies because they always use the same actors, same plots etc. It's like you watch Knocked Up starring Seth Rogen, Michael Cera, then a year later you see Superbad starring the same guys, written by the same guys. Of course the difference in my opinion is that while Knocked Up and Superbad are awesome movies, these Hungarian romantic comedies suck. (not at the box office though, I don't know why..) The success of this genre mainly comes from its requirement of a relatively low budget, simple plot and it's watched by an audience with the largest difference at age.
In 2003 after 4 years of production a movie called Kontroll was released in theatres, written and directed by Nimr
