Re: Deus Ex Network
Slightly confusing.
Work is starting on http://deusexnetwork.com/ and we have a team to set it up. Perhaps you are interested in cooperating, but in any case might want to rethink how you call it. Domain names are different but you are calling your domain with conflicting name.

L.O.X I don't mean to be a party pooper
, but what do you hope to achieve with that forum that DXMS ans DeusExOnline haven't already?

Re: Deus Ex Network
What exactly have DXMS and DEO achieved on community scale?Alvind wrote:L.O.X I don't mean to be a party pooper, but what do you hope to achieve with that forum that DXMS ans DeusExOnline haven't already?
Re: Deus Ex Network
God here you are again!
Don't you love to argue.
I just don't see the point in setting up another ghost forum that is basically a clone of said forums. This isn't a discussion about what them forums have achieved. It's about why setup another one that's the same!

Have a point, didn't notice somebody was using the name. I changed it as you can see on the title.synthetic wrote:Slightly confusing.

Only achievement I would like is to bring a little more activity to Deus Ex. Also, I have never heard of DeusExOnline. DXMS really didn't achieved anything other than releasing maps that was unfinished and had bsp errors all over the map. What DXMS maps you've seen in a non-augs server rotation other than Iceworld and possibly Dust. Iceworld which is an overplayed map that brings no actually type of strategy and about the activity of the forum only time will tell.Alvind wrote:L.O.X I don't mean to be a party pooper, but what do you hope to achieve with that forum that DXMS ans DeusExOnline haven't already?

Re: Deus Ex Community
This is a good new start LOX. It doesn't hurt to make more sites to make DXMP more known.
Re: Deus Ex Network
Oh my days lol, first of all DXMS provided some of the most played 0 augs maps around, and without this "shitty" "watered down" "low pingfested" "noob" gametype deus ex would have most likely died as a community in 2005/6, augs was completely *loving* dead throughout, DXMS servers? come on Ken don't be ignorant now since you've jumped on the aug scene extremely late, starting to sound like those uppidy-fucktarded auggers who slam 0 augs yet can't compete above mid level in it.synthetic wrote:What exactly have DXMS and DEO achieved on community scale?
Keeping the game alive is far more important than going OTT on fixing everything, i think you can't stand so many players being able to beat you now unlike 2006... taking LOX's post about you and some of REN into account.

Sometimes it seems spambots make more sense than some people. I wonder if any of them want to join a clan.
Re: Deus Ex Community
Alright lets get back on topic. Looking for individuals who would like to help posts some of their tutorials such as maps, mods, binds, deus ex fixes, and etc. Would be appreciated.

I don't really see the point either, but good luck with it anyway.
I've been assuming that Icho (FGS LEADER) was a spam bot!synthetic wrote:Sometimes it seems spambots make more sense than some people. I wonder if any of them want to join a clan.

Re: Deus Ex Community
This is such a typical DX community thread, alot of negativity, lack of enthusiasm for the OP and nothing constructive was said. When OP tried to defend his concept, the debate then veered personal or with regards to what was said, not the concept of the OP. Such a classic DX thread this is...
Competition is good for the general public. I'm not a fan of the concept that one or two people in DX should run everything and have a finger in every pie going and then be able to turn round to others and say they are wasting their time.
Deusexonline is great, but ultimately is gearing traffic to a mapper's website piggybacking off a general dx forum, no problem with that, but at the same time it can't expect to corner the market with that approach. My forum is exactly the same, it can't expect to provide a true community service, it's the home of a specific cause or project. Chinny plays this a strength, with "Chinny's corner" and it lets people know it's the site of a mapper, people will appreciate this, but at the end of the day, it's the home of that specific cause.
DXMS is just archives and afaik, not everything is accessible. For example the umx tutorial is accessible only by searching google. DXMS did achieve something though, it passed on the mapping craft, it formed a new wave of mappers.
Factory achieved something too, for a period of time, it was run by people from FGS, from RTK, from DXMS, from everywhere.
There's still a need for a true community site, where the info is comprehensive and editors are free to upload, archive, display and promote their work without judgement, decisions, editing by other people. This is why FGS archives are growing steadily, even though it's home of many mappers, they're not involved in the process of another mapper using this site to promote or archive their work. Neither does the site feature or structure one mapper or project in particular.
I would suggest making a site like Factory or DXMS and having it run by a team of mappers/modders. As far as PR/news is concerned, I think it's more important to be on Facebook and Steam and other places like this, than having the perfect website right now. I think also there are different types of server needed, botservers, RPG which a lone beginner could understand, clear instructions, a server for fighting, a server where every mapper who is a member can get hosted.
I say good luck to anyone wanting to map, make DX websites, play DX, form a clan, good luck!

Well said Shadow! I agree... I am sick of people just putting other modders down or saying they could do better.

Re: Deus Ex Community
I think you misunderstand me Atrey, I'm not trying to criticize anyone and I don't even know who the OP is and it does look annoying that two people are using two very similar names, but I just noticed that all the sites in DX are like OTP or deusexonline or my forums, or are actually a clan forum and really the point was that there's still room for a site which is comprehensive and allows people their own searchable page/profile/downloads etc, while being pure journalism, without sponsor "advertorials" etc or one project/gametype/cause in particular having it's own section.
Something which directly connects the public with the editor/modder/player and is user-generated, they can have their own profile or page, gallery, downloads etc all on their profile page.
The reason I say this, is because DX is old and searching archives like Alpha or FGS or PDX, leaves the person a bit clueless as to what is likely to be best/latest etc.
If people are responsible for what downloads, screenies and information they want to give, the website user is already presented with best/latest stuff neatly, categorized under each person, mapper, modder etc.
Even a player could have a profile page and gallery, for clan war screenies etc. So like Moddb for a big part of the site, along with forums, discussions, info, guides etc.
